Driving the Correct One

Transportations had been always an important part of our lives, but now it is also about comfortable and technologic ways to do so. You will find always different tastes of choosing the correct ride that will transport you everywhere you need. Nissan X-trail and Honda CR-V are just perfect cars for an adventure person who likes to get out of the monotony. Both cars have very similar performance and characteristics, but the differences that I could found of my research are even clearer that explained the purchased of the car by the people.

Talking about 4WD (Four Wheel Drive System) with the people, we could find a big difference between X-trail and CR-V. Nissan X-trail has a manual control of this system which gives the driver the option of drive in “auto” system, that means that if the car is losing traction in any wheel, the car will automatic stop giving traction to that wheel and will put more effort in the other wheels that have good grip. It also have a “lock “system, and the idea is that if the driver prefers to be all the time with 4WD, he or she just need to put this option and the car will be always alert and won’t lose a fraction of a second like in the case of “auto”. Most of the people of my research said that this system is better because you chose the mode that you want to drive and also you can put in lock and the car will not lose any kind of traction because it is already on. In the other hand, CR-V had thought about the easy way for the driver; the system that the car uses is an intelligent computer that will tell the wheels to connect when the car is losing traction, so the car will keep moving and it won’t stop. This car has a little button under the wheel that gives more horse power to the engine, making the car stronger in hard ways. People that have this car mentioned that they prefer not to do anything in case of going in an off road and left everything to the intelligence system; “It is easier and you don’t need to stress about the road, because the car does everything” those were the words of father’s friend that has one of this car.

About the researches that I found in AEADE (Asociación de Empresas Automotrices en el Ecuador) and the commentaries that I could get, is that most of the people preferred Nissan X-trail because is a stronger car, and you are sure that you just put in lock system and the car will be okay and won’t jam in any hard road; In the last year (2009) Nissan sold 243 units of X-trails, but Honda sold 162 CR-Vs, so this also reflects what I am saying about those cars. I have to remember that the prices are about the same, so it is only a taste decision.

About the engine of the Nissan X-trail, this car has a 2500cc and has a CVT system which provides the car a longer revolutions per minutes, this means that the car can go faster in high speeds. In contrast, Honda CR-V has a 2400cc engine with a technology system called i-vtec, and the idea of this system is to provide a faster acceleration, so the car will react at the same time that you press the accelerator. People mentioned that the CR-V has a better acceleration than the X-trail, but after a few seconds they get ties in the road because both technologies are very similar but one gives a fast reaction than the other one. Some people think that there is no difference at all.

After my research, I can conclude that Nissan X-trail is a really good car but it is better in hard roads, the car will responds really well and you won’t have problems. However, Honda CR-V is better to use in the city, what means that the acceleration is faster and you won’t have any problems driving fast. It is not very recommendable to use a CR-V out of the city because it is not really designed to it like X-trail. I think that there is also just ignorance about the skills of each car and this is why people just buy the car without knowing exactly what they really want.
